Dr. Wayne Loertscher - Veterinarian

Dr. Wayne Loertscher is a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian with over two decades of experience in small animal medicine.

Growing up with a deep love for animals and a passion for all aspects of farming and ranching, Dr. Loertscher knew early on that a career in veterinary medicine was the perfect fit.

After graduating from Bonneville High School, he began his academic journey at Rick’s College, where he also met the love of his life, Erin Quirk. Following a mission to England, he continued his education at Utah State University as a Bio-Veterinary Science major and was later accepted into the School of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University, graduating in 1998.

Dr. Loertscher began his veterinary career in Reno, Nevada, where he practiced small animal medicine for five years. In 2003, he purchased Ada Animal Hospital in Boise, Idaho, where he served the community as owner and lead veterinarian until selling the practice in 2019.

Since then, Dr. Loertscher has remained active in the field, working as a relief veterinarian, a shelter veterinarian, and currently at a small animal hospital in Fruitland, Idaho. He finds the greatest fulfillment in helping pets live long, healthy lives and supporting pet owners through compassionate care.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Loertscher enjoys fishing, hiking, yard work, repairing things, flint knapping, and woodworking—especially turning bowls on a lathe. Above all, he cherishes time with his wife Erin, their five daughters, one son, and three grandsons. He also loves returning to the ranch whenever he can to lend a helping hand.
